The sinful nature causes man to be attracted to structure and rules (i.e the law).
This happens because the sinful nature wants what the flesh wants, and in matters where the law does not speak the flesh feels permitted to engage in the secret sinful acts that the flesh desires, and then attempt to keep those things hidden from God .
The Apostle Paul let us know in Galatians 5:17 that the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the spirit what is contrary to the flesh. He goes on to say that they are in constant conflict with each other. But why?
The flesh desires explicit rules because the flesh thinks laws draw definitive lines regarding what man has license to do and not do, and as a result renders a man justified before God if he doesn’t do the expressed “bad” things.
The writer of Hebrews let us know that the pleasures of sin are fun for a season , which speaks to why the flesh attempts to be deceptive about its intentions since the flesh desires to prolong the conclusion of the temporary fun found in sin.
Foolishly, the flesh is blind to the wisdom of God and, as a result, fails to realize that God already knows everything regardless of whether or not the flesh received express permission to do a thing or not.
Just keep this in mind…
You can fool some of the people all of the time.
You can fool all of the people some of the time.
You can fool God no times.
Gods hope is that we will be persuaded to cease from pursuing temporal gratification that satisfies the flesh in exchange for eternal pleasure.
God also hopes that we will fully comprehend the height and width and depth of Christs love for us, and then move on to faith in Christ living as children of God, led and kept by His Spirit, that we might please Him .
